📒 पहला पाठ : विधि-विवरण 30:15-20
15) "आज मैं तुम लोगों के सामने जीवन और मृत्यु, भलाई और बुराई दोनों रख रहा हूँ।
16) तुम्हारे प्रभु-ईश्वर की जो आज्ञाएँ मैं आज तुम्हें दे रहा हूँ, यदि तुम उनका पालन करोगे, यदि तुम अपने प्रभु-ईश्वर को प्यार करोगे, उसके मार्ग पर चलोगे और उसकी आज्ञाओं विधियों तथा नियमों का पालन करोगे, तो जीवित रहोगे, तुम्हारी संख्या बढ़ती जायेगी और जिस देश पर तुम अधिकार करने जा रहे हो, उस में प्रभु-ईश्वर तुम्हें आशीर्वाद प्रदान करेगा।
17) परन्तु यदि तुम्हारा मन भटक जायेगा, यदि तुम नहीं सुनोगे और अन्य देवताओं की आराधना तथा सेवा के प्रलोभन में पड़ जाओगे,
18) तो मैं आज तुम लोगों से कहे देता हूँ कि तुम अवश्य ही नष्ट हो जाओगे और यर्दन नदी पार कर जिस देश पर अधिकार करने जा रहो हो, वहाँ तुम बहुत समय तक नहीं रहने पाओगे।
19) मैं आज तुम लोगों के विरुद्ध स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी को साक्षी बनाता हूँ - मैं तुम्हारे सामने जीवन और मृत्यु, भलाई और बुराई रख रहा हूँ। तुम लोग जीवन को चुन लो, जिससे तुम और तुम्हारे वंशज जीवत रह सकें।
20) अपने प्रभु-ईश्वर को प्यार करो, उसकी बात मानो और उसकी सेवा करते रहो। इसी में तुम्हारा जीवन है और ऐसा करने से तुम बहुत समय तक उस देश में रह पाओगे, जिसे प्रभु ने शपथ खा कर तुम्हारे पूर्वजों - इब्राहीम, इसहाक और याकूब को देने की प्रतिज्ञा की है।"
📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त लूकस का सुसमाचार 9:22-25
22) उन्होंने अपने शिष्यों से कहा, "मानव पुत्र को बहुत दुःख उठाना होगा; नेताओं, महायाजकों और शास्त्रियों द्वारा ठुकराया जाना, मार डाला जाना और तीसरे दिन जी उठना होगा"।
23) इसके बाद ईसा ने सबों से कहा, "जो मेरा अनुसरण करना चाहता है, वह आत्मत्याग करे और प्रतिदिन अपना क्रूस उठा कर मेरे पीछे हो ले;
24) क्योंकि जो अपना जीवन सुरक्षित रखना चाहता है, वह उसे खो देता है, और जो मेरे कारण अपना जीवन खो देता है, वह उसे सुरक्षित रखेगा।
25) मनुष्य को इस से क्या लाभ, यदि वह सारा संसार तो प्राप्त कर ले, लेकिन अपना जीवन ही गँवा दे या अपना सर्वनाश कर ले?
📚 मनन-चिंतन
जैसे ही हम पवित्र उपवास के मौसम में यात्रा करते हैं, लूकस 9:22-25 के सुसमाचार अंश हमें बलिदान के सार और उसके हमारे जीवन के लिए गहरे अर्थ पर चिंतन करने के लिए आमंत्रित करता है। येसु, इन पदों में, अपने पृथ्वी पर मिशन के बारे में एक महत्वपूर्ण सत्य का प्रकाशन करते हैं। वह अपने दुःखभोग और क्रूस पर अंतिम बलिदान का भविष्यवाणी करते हैं। जबकि यह एक अंधेरे का प्रकाशन लग सकता है, यह ख्रीस्तीय संदेश का हृदय ही है, सच्चे जीवन का मार्ग अक्सर बलिदान को अपनाने में शामिल होता है। हमारी आधुनिक संस्कृति में, जो अक्सर आत्म-भोग और तुरंत संतुष्टि को महिमान्वित करती है, उपवास एक कड़वा विरोध है, जो हमें आत्म-चिंतन और अपनी प्राथमिकताओं का पुनर्निर्देशन करने का आह्वान करता है। येसु हमें अपने आप को इनकार करने, अपना क्रूस रोजाना उठाने, और उसके पीछे चलने की चुनौती देते हैं। यह आह्वान कठोर लग सकता है, लेकिन यह ईश्वर के साथ गहरी आत्मीयता का निमंत्रण है। जैसे ही हम उपवास के माध्यम से यात्रा करते हैं, आइए हम याद रखें कि हमारे बलिदान व्यर्थ नहीं हैं। वे एक जीवन की ओर कदम हैं, जो उद्देश्य और अनंत महत्व से भरा हुआ है। जब हम अपने आप को0 इनकार करते हैं, तो हम उस समृद्ध जीवन को खोजते हैं, जो मसीह वादा करते हैं - एक जीवन जो प्रेम, दया, और ईश्वर के साथ संयुक्तता में जड़ा हुआ है। यह उपवास का मौसम एक गहरे परिवर्तन का समय हो, जब हम येसु के बलिदान के मार्ग पर चलते हैं, भरोसा करते हुए कि उसके लिए अपने आप को खोने में, हम जीवन और प्रेम की सबसे सच्ची अभिव्यक्ति को पाते हैं।

📚 REFLECTION
As we journey through the sacred season of Lent, the Gospel passage from Luke 9:22-25 invites us to reflect upon the essence of sacrifice and the profound meaning it holds for our lives. Jesus, in these verses, reveals a crucial truth about His mission on Earth. He foretells His suffering, rejection, and ultimate sacrifice on the cross. While this may seem like a dark revelation, it is the very heart of the Christian message, the path to true life often involves embracing sacrifice.
In our contemporary culture that often glorifies self-indulgence and instant gratification, Lent serves as a stark contrast, calling us to self-reflection and a reorientation of our priorities. Jesus challenges us to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow Him. This call may sound demanding, but it is an invitation to deeper intimacy with God.
As we journey through Lent, let us remember that our sacrifices are not in vain. They are stepping stones toward a life filled with purpose and eternal significance. In denying ourselves, we discover the abundant life that Christ promises a life rooted in love, mercy, and communion with God. May this Lenten season be a time of profound transformation, as we follow Jesus on the path of sacrifice, trusting that in losing ourselves for His sake, we find the truest expression of life and love.

आज का सुसमाचार हमें याद दिलाता है कि येसु का अनुसरण करना आसान नहीं है और इसके लिए त्याग और पीड़ा की आवश्यकता होगी। येसु हमें अपनी इच्छाओं को त्यागने और अपना क्रूस उठाने और उनके पीछे चलने के लिए कह रहे हैं। इसका अर्थ है अपनी स्वयं की इच्छाओं और जरूरतों को अलग रखकर येसु का अनुसरण करना चाहेजहाँ भी वह हमें ले जाये, भले ही वह बलिदान, कठिनाई और पीड़ा हो। साथ ही, यह पद्यांष यह भी याद दिलाता है कि उन लोगों के लिए एक पुरुस्कार है जो अपना क्रूस उठाकर येसु के पीछे चलने को तैयार हैं। वे वादा करते है कि जो कोई भी उनके लिए अपना जीवन खो देता है, वह उसे पा लेगा। यह एक अनुस्मारक है कि, अंत में, येसु का अनुसरण करने का प्रतिफल उस किसी भी चीज से कहीं अधिक बड़ा है जिसकी हम कभी कल्पना कर सकते हैं।
पुरुस्कार और उद्धार के वादे के साथ बलिदान और पीड़ा के विचार को स्वीकारना चुनौतीपूर्ण हो सकता है, लेकिन यह पाठ हमें याद दिलाता है कि येसु के सच्चे अनुसरण के लिए स्वयं को येसु के प्रति पूर्ण समर्पण की आवश्यकता है, और इसका अंतिम पुरुस्कार येसु में अनंत जीवन है।

📚 REFLECTION
Today’s gospel passage reminds us that following Jesus is not easy and it will require sacrifice and suffering. Jesus is asking us to die to our own desires and to take up our own cross and follow him. It means to put aside our own wants and needs and to follow Jesus wherever he leads us, even if it means sacrifice, hardship, and suffering. At the same time, this passage also reminds us that there is a reward for those who are willing to take up their cross and follow Jesus. He promises that whoever loses their life for his sake will find it. This is a reminder that, in the end, the reward for following Jesus is far greater than anything we could ever imagine.
It can be challenging to reconcile the idea of sacrifice and suffering with the promise of reward and salvation, but this passage reminds us that true following of Jesus requires a complete surrender of self, and that the ultimate reward is eternal life in Jesus.

येसु ने अपने तथा शिष्यों के जीवन में कष्टों की अनिवार्यता पर जोर दिया। ऐसे कष्ट फलदायक होते हैं। हमारे दुखों का कुछ सकारात्मक मूल्य है। येसु ने सूली पर अपने दुखभोग तथा मृत्यु के द्वारा पूरी मानवजाति के लिए मुक्ति प्राप्त की। कष्टों को झेलने का एक उद्देश्य अनुशासन सीखना है (देखें, इब्रानियों 12:7-13)। एक अन्य उद्देश्य परीक्षा हो सकता है। संत पौलुस कहते हैं, "वास्तव में जो लोग मसीह के शिष्य बन कर भक्तिपूर्वक जीवन बिताना चाहेंगे, उन सबों को अत्याचार सहना ही पड़ेगा।" (2तिमथी 3:12)। संत पेत्रुस के अनुसार दुख-तकलीफ़ एक आशीर्वाद है। वे कहते हैं, "यदि आप लोगों पर अत्याचार किया जाये, तो मसीह के दुःख-भोग के सहभागी बन जाने के नाते प्रसन्न हों।" (1पेत्रुस 4:13)। ख्रीस्तीय विश्वासी दुनिया में उत्पीड़न का सामना करने के लिए बाध्य हैं क्योंकि वे इस दुनिया के नहीं हैं (देखें, योहन 15:18-25)। संत पौलुस और बरनबास ने अन्य विश्वासियों को यह कहते हुए धीरज बँधाया, "हमें बहुत से कष्ट सह कर ईश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करना है।" (प्रेरित-चरित 14:22)। प्रेरित इसलिए आनन्दित हो कर महासभा के भवन से निकले कि वे येसु के नाम के कारण अपमानित होने योग्य समझे गये।" (प्रेरित-चरित 5:41)।

📚 REFLECTION
Jesus stresses the inevitability of sufferings in his own life and in the life of the disciples. Such sufferings are productive. Our sufferings have a positive value. Jesus gained redemption for the entire humanity by his sufferings and death on the cross. One of the purposes of sufferings is discipline (cf. Heb 12:7-13). Another purpose may be testing. St. Paul says, “Indeed, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2Tim 3:12). According to St. Peter suffering is a blessing. He says, “If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the spirit of glory, which is the Spirit of God, is resting on you” (1Pet 4:12). Christians are bound to face persecution in the world because they do not belong to the world (cf. Jn 15:18-25). St. Paul and Barnabas strengthened other believers saying, “It is through many persecutions that we must enter the kingdom of God” (Act 14:22). The Apostles “rejoiced that they were considered worthy to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name” (Act 5:41).

द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के दौरान, फादर माक्सिमिलियन कोल्बे, नाजियों द्वारा एक कॉन्सेन्ट्रेशन कैंप में डाल दिया गया था। एक दिन, एक कैदी शिविर से भाग गया और कमांडर ने, कैदियों को दंडित करने के लिए, दस लोगों को मौत के घाट उतारने का आदेश दिया। चुने गए लोगों में एक युवक था जिसकी पत्नी और बच्चे थे। दया से द्रवित हो कर फादर कोल्बे ने उस युवक की जगह लेने की अपनी इच्छा प्रकट की। कमांडर ने अनुमति दी। कैद में, फादर कोल्बे ने दूसरों को शांति से मरने में मदद की। जब उन्हें मरने में बहुत समय लगा, नाजियों ने उनके हाथ में जहर का इंजेक्शन लगा दिया। आज, जब कोई उस जेल का दौरा करने जाता है जहाँ संत मैक्सिमिलियन कोल्बे का निधन हुआ था, तो वहाँ वह अब भी फादर कोल्बे द्वारा नाखूनों से दीवार पर बनाये गये क्रूस की तस्वीर देख सकता है। उन्होंने अपनी प्राण-पीड़ा में येसु के क्रूस से ही प्रेरणा पायी थी। येसु की तरह कोल्बे ने खुद को दूसरों के लिए समर्पित किया। आज के सुसमाचार में येसु हमें अपने आप को त्यागने और हमारे अपने क्रूस उठा कर उनका अनुसरण करने को कहते हैं। मसीह का क्रूस ही हमें अपने दैनिक क्रूस लेने और उनका अनुसरण करने का साहस प्रदान करता है।

📚 REFLECTION
During World War II, Father Maximillian Kolbe, was put into a concentration camp by the Nazis. One day, a prisoner escaped from the camp and so the commander, in order, to punish the prisoners, ordered ten men to be starved to death. Among those chosen was a young man who had a wife and children. Father Kolbe insisted to take the young man’s place. In the death cell, Fr. Kolbe helped the others to die in peace. Because he took too long to die, the Nazis injected poison into his arm. Today, when one goes to visit the cell where Saint Maximilian Kolbe died, one can still see a figure of Jesus on the cross scratched on the prison wall with his nails. Kolbe, like Jesus, gave himself for others - A man for others. In today’s gospel Jesus asks us to renounce ourselves and take up our cross and follow him. It is the cross of Christ which gives us the courage to take up our daily cross and follow him.
