वर्ष का दसवाँ सामान्य सप्ताह
📒 पहला पाठ : राजाओं का पहला ग्रन्थ 19:19-21
19) एलियाह वहाँ से चला गया और उसने शाफ़ाट के पुत्र एलीशा के पास पहुँच कर उसे हल जोतते हुए पाया। उसने बारह जोड़ी बैल लगा रखे थे और वह स्वयं बारहवीं जोड़ी चला रहा था। एलियाह ने उसकी बग़ल से गुज़र कर उस पर अपनी चादर डाल दी।
20) एलीशा ने अपने बैल छोड़ कर एलियाह के पीछे दौड़ते हुए कहा, ‘‘मुझे पहले अपने माता-पिता का चुम्बन करने दीजिए। तब मैं आपके साथ चलूँगा।’’
21) एलियाह ने उत्तर दिया, “जाओ, लौटो। तुम जानते ही हो कि मैंने तुम्होरे साथ क्या किया है।“
📒 सुसमाचार : सन्त मत्ती का सुसमाचार 5:33-37
(33) तुम लोगों ने यह भी सुना है कि पूर्वजों से कहा गया है -झूठी शपथ मत खाओ। प्रभु के सामने खायी हुई शपथ पूरी करो।
(34) परतु मैं तुम से कहता हूँः शपथ कभी नहीं खाना चाहिए- न तो स्वर्ग की, क्योंकि वह ईश्वर का सिंहासन है; न पृथ्वी की, क्योंकि वह उसका पाव दान है; न येरुसालेम की, क्योंकि वह राजाधिराज का नगर है।
(35) न पृथवी की, क्योंकि वह उसका पावदान है और न येरुसालेम की, क्योंकि वह राजाधिराज का नगर है।
(36) और न अपने सिर की, क्योंकि तुम इसका एक भी बाल सफेद या काला नहीं कर सकते।
(37) तुमहारी बात इतनी हो-हाँ की हाँ, नहीं की नहीं। जो इससे अधिक है, वह बुराई से उत्पन्न होता है।
📚 मनन-चिंतन
लेवी ग्रन्थ 9:12 में हम पढ़ते हैं, “अपने ईश्वर का नाम अपवित्र करते हुए मेरे नाम की झूठी शपथ मत लो। मैं प्रभु हूँ।” शपथ लेना निंदित नहीं था, परंतु झूठी शपथ लेना निंदित था। उत्पत्ति 24:3 में, हम इब्राहीम को अपने सेवक से “आकाश तथा पृथ्वी के ईश्वर की शपथ ले कर” वचन देने को कहते हुए पाते हैं। 1राजा 1:17 में, बतशेबा दाऊद को याद दिलाती है कि उसने “अपने प्रभु ईश्वर” की शपथ ली थी। येसु इस कानून को पूर्ण करते हैं, सिखाते हैं कि उनके शिष्यों को शपथ बिल्कुल नहीं लेनी चाहिए। हमें विश्वसनीय बनना चाहिए और हमारे शब्दों और क्रियाओं के बीच कोई अंतर नहीं होना चाहिए। लोगों को हमारे शब्दों पर भरोसा करने में दिक्कत नही होना चाहिए। संत याकूब भी इस पर जोर देते हैं जब वे कहते हैं, “मेरे भाइयो! सब से बड़ी बात यह है कि आप शपथ नहीं खायें- न तो स्वर्ग की, न पृथ्वी की ओर न किसी अन्य वस्तु की। आपकी बात इतनी हो - हाँ की हाँ, नहीं की नहीं। कहीं ऐसा न हो कि आप दण्ड के योग्य हो जायें।” (याकूब 5:12)।

📚 REFLECTION
In Lev 19:12, we read, “And you shall not swear falsely by my name, profaning the name of your God: I am the Lord”. Swearing itself was not condemned, but swearing falsely was condemned. In Gen 24:3, we find Abraham asking his servant to “swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and earth”. In 1Kings 1:17, Bathsheba reminds David that he had sworn “by the Lord your God”. Jesus perfects this law teaching that his disciples should not swear at all. We are supposed to be trustworthy and that there should be no gap between our words and actions. People should be able to trust our words. St. James also insists on this when he says, “Above all, my beloved, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “Yes” be yes and your “No” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation” (Jam 5:12).

📚 मनन-चिंतन -2
हमारे जीवन में ऐसी अनेक वस्तुये हैं जिन्हंे हम वरदान या कृपा समझते हैं। ये हमारी सम्पत्ति, उपलब्धियॉ, महत्वकांक्षायें, व्यवसाय, गुण, लोग, रिश्ते आदि हो सकते हैं लेकिन शायद हम इस बात को समझ नहीं पाते हैं वे सभी उपरोक्त बातें हमारे उपलब्धियॉ न होकर हमारी जंजीरें हो सकती है; जो हमें ईश्वर का अनुसरण करने से रोक रही हो या हमारी वास्तविक स्वतंत्रता में बाधक हो! क्या हम इस जरूरत का अनुभव करते हैं कि हमें इन्हें अपने जीवन से जाने देना चाहिये? क्या हम महसूस करते है कि हम जिन बोझों को ढो रहे है उन्हें ईश्वर ने हमें नहीं दिया है?
नबी एलीशा हमें बताते हैं कि कैसे हमें ऐसी वस्तुयों को छोडकर उस नयी डगर पर चलना जिसके लिये ईश्वर हमें बुला रहें। विवाह भोज के दृष्टांत में मेहमानों को भोज में आंमत्रित किया गया था। लेकिन हम पाते हैं कि किसी न किसी कारण से वे सभी व्यस्त होने के कारण इस भोज में शामिल नहीं हो पाते हैं। उनकी व्यस्ता के कारण सही हो सकते हैं किन्तु निष्कर्ष यही था कि उन्होंने विवाह निमंत्रण को ठुकरा दिया था। जीवन की छोटी-मोटी बातें उनके लिये बाधक रही। एलीशा अपने बैलों को मार, हल की लकडी जला कर उसका मांस पका, मजदूरों को खिला कर एलियाह का शिष्य बन गया।
हमारे जीवन में भी ऐसे कुछ बोझ होंगे जो हमें जीवन की नयी संभावनाओं को अपनाने में बाधक बन रहे होंगे। यदि हम नहीं जानते कि हमें कैसे इनसे मुक्त होना चाहिये तो इसके लिये हमें ईश्वर से प्रज्ञा के लिये प्रार्थना करनी चाहिये। संत याकूब बताते हैं, ’’यदि आप लोगों में किसी में प्रज्ञा का अभाव हो, तो वह ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करे और उसे प्रज्ञा मिलेगी, क्योंकि ईश्वर खुले हाथ और खुशी से सबों को देता है।’’ (याकूब 1:5)
संत पौलुस संसार की सभी वस्तुयें को कूडा समझते हैं। ’’मैं प्रभु ईसा मसीह को जानना सर्वश्रेष्ठ लाभ मानता हूँ और इस ज्ञान की तुलना में हर वस्तु को हानि ही मानता हूँ। उन्हीं के लिए मैंने सब कुछ छोड़ दिया है और उसे कूड़ा समझता हूँ,’’ उनका एकमात्र लक्ष्य यही था कि ’’मैं मसीह को जान लूॅ।’’ तथा वे उन बातों की ओर ध्यानकेद्रिंत करते हैं तो सर्वोत्तम हैं, ’’मैं इतना ही कहता हूँ कि पीछे की बातें भुला कर और आगे की बातों पर दृष्टि लगा कर मैं बड़ी उत्सुकता से अपने लक्ष्य की ओर दौड़ रहा हूँ, ताकि मैं स्वर्ग में वह पुरस्कार प्राप्त कर सकूँ, जिसके लिए ईश्वर ने हमें ईसा मसीह में बुलाया है।’’ (देखिये फिल्लिपियों 3:8-14)
हमारे लिये अपनी प्राथमिकताओं को पुनः संजोने का समय है जिससे हम उन सब बातों को चुन तथा कर सके जिसके लिये ईश्वर ने हमें बुलाया है। हमें यह समझना चाहिये कि अपने जीवन की महत्वहीन बातों को त्यागने में ही हम महत्वपूर्ण तथा ईश्वरीय बातों को प्राप्त कर सकते हैं।

📚 REFLECTION
There are many things that we may consider blessings or gifts. These can be some possession, achievements, ambitions, career, talents, persons, relationships etc. however we may not have realised that they are not our possessions but they are possessing us; holding us back or down from following Jesus fully; experiencing the freedom and joy of life. Do we realise the need to let go off some things that have been holding you down? Do you find it difficult to offload the burdens God did not give you to carry, and get on with your life?
Elisha presents us a perfect picture of letting off our possession in order to move on to something that God has invited us to do.
In the parable of the wedding guests, the guests are invited to the wedding feast. However, they are busy with some or the other reasons. They are in fact justifiable in their reasoning. But the point here is, they refused to abide by the invitation to the wedding feast. The petty affairs of life were holding them down, keeping them busy so they missed the lifetime opportunity to be the wedding guest of the king.
Elijah took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his attendant. 1 Kings 19:19-21
There are some weights we may have been carrying from previous years, that we need to release so as to change our perspective?Ifwe don't know how to release them, pray for wisdom to go about it, and it will be given you. “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt” James 1:5-6
Paul considered all the things of this world as dung. Paul's goals were only that I may win Christ, That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his suffering. That I may catch the thing for which Jesus caught me. His dream was, ‘That I may know him.” (cf. Phil.3:7-10)
And he focuses on the things that are ahead. He says, I have not yet made it. I have not yet reached my goal. If you don't ignore some things, you cannot reach your aim. (Phil.3:8, 12-14)
It is time to re-focus. That I may know the things God has called us to do and choose. We need to learn that it is only in letting off the things we get off to bigger and real things in life.
